Well this was a bit of a shock, but was it really when you look at the team SAF choose to represent the club on the night?

Matt Le Tiss again called a possible upset at Old Trafford, after his calling Burnley over United earlier in the season.

I am of the opinion Fergie knows his squad is at a change over period and needs to blood as many of these young players as he can to give the experience for the future.

Its common knowledge the club is in debt up to its eyeballs n not looking as thou they will get in the black for a long time.

Newspapers are already commenting that the club have not spent any of the Ronaldo money and I told you at the time, Fergie was told that money goes straight to the bankers and not for new players - ever!

I have always admired fergie and again love his bravery (if not forced this time) to go into games with youngsters giving the airtime in the 1st 11 to be ready when its time for them to take over.

While it probably hurts to lose the proud home european record in this manner, the bigger picture is being addressed.

I agree with your assessment and that it is not a big worry.

However, you might expect youngsters deemed good enough for Utd to win at home to a side whose previous English experiences have seen them concede a goal or two.

I only watched the first half and of the youngsters, I only feel any excitement over Rafael and Obertan, possibly Gibson. Wellbeck and Macheda for me are not made of the right stuff, despite the latters heroics last season.

Since Tick, you have brought this up, what do you think about Chelsea? Fielding a full strength side, despite having qualified as well. Away to Porto is a different proposition, compared with home to Besiktas, but I would have thought it was a chance to stick one or two younguns in, with a largely experienced side...rather than do what Fergie did?

Would have been good experience for maybe the top two young players at Chelsea?

Our manager has made a big thing of the importance to finishing top, something it seems your manager does not hold in as high a must.

That was not a full strength team last night and Drogba only played as he needed the minutes after injury.

I think you will find in the last game more youngsters will get airtime - can you say the same at Wolfsberg now you lost?

Dont think first place really matters. Just like to get through. I just want to watch big ties, so would have no problem drawing a big gun.

Champions League is about getting excited about the fixtures you are going to be a part of, not praying to draw the worst team in the pot. Well thats what its like for me.

I can only hope for Madrid, like I do every year.

Untied have always bled young players, though not as many as last night's game. Ferguson probably thought the line up was good enough to get a draw, which they knew after the result in Moscow earlier that day would have been enough to win the group. United had nearly all the possession and enough chances to get a result, so I don't have any problem with the line up.

Other than getting the the second leg at home, the last couple of years there has not been much advantage to wining the group, there seems to be as many top sides finish second as there are that finish first in the groups.

As for the game against Wolfsburg if Moscow win in Turkey, United can lose and finish top of the group. So who knows what line up he will put out for that one.

The Ronaldo money has me concerned, everyone associated with the club says the money's there to spend if Ferguson wants to, but who really knows. It's true that there is no value out there, because Ronaldo went for 80mil, every good player is being quoted at 50 million plus when there is nobody available that's worth more than 30 million, other than perhaps David Villa. United will have to spend that Ronaldo money soon, I don't really expect much in January, but if they don't spend the bulk of it next summer the fans will revolt.

As for the debt, I don't think anyone at the club other than the fans are all that concerned. I don't claim to know anything about high finance, but I don't think the Glazier's have ever had any attention of paying off the debt. The club today is worth double what the Glazier's paid for it and even if you take off the debt they are still ahead of where they were when the bought United. With the way the value of the club is increasing in a few years they could sell off 25-30% of the club and pay off the debt. Though Hicks and Gillette are finding that a little more tricky then they expected, but United is a much more marketable brand than Liverpool.
