Very entertaining game to watch. Had just about everything. Wild open attacking football, horrid defending, a couple of nasty tackles and played in a driving rain storm.

Bale again looked great bombing up the left wing, making cross after cross that no Spurs forward could get on the end of. Van der Vaart looks a skilled played took his goal well and has started to take the majority of corners and free kicks for Spurs. However, it seems his potential for nastiness and red cards has followed him to England. That was a really stupid second yellow, plus he probably should have already been off for a heavy tackle a few minutes earlier.

Have to say I was really confused by the performance of the 4th and 5th officials in this game. Was this the first European game that there have been officials behind the goal or is this the first time I noticed it? 3 Spurs penalties in this game and I believe the one that Bale won was the only one called by the referee or linesman. The holding on Crouch and the handball from Pavlyuchenko's shot were ignored by the Referee and linesman and play continued. I am not sure what the the role of the official behind the goal is, but I would have thought it was to offer advice if asked, not to make calls. Uefa has to sort that out it didn't look very professional.

Great night for Spurs first big European home game since 1962, White Heart Lane seemed to be rocking and I was really impressed with the away support from the Twente supporters. Good win for Spurs and they may actually qualify from this group especially if they tighten up their defense a bit.

It will be interesting to see how Redknapp approaches the next two games against Inter, Eto is on fire and Benitez has them playing a more attacking brand of football than Mourinho. I wonder if Spurs will line up in a 4-5-1 next game in Italy?

Completely disagree. If these officials are to be used, they should have the same power to make calls as any other official otherwise they simply make up the numbers. In my opinion, defenders get away with too much and if a few decisions from these spare men can encourage less "cheating" defending then all the better for the game.

I didnt watch the game but the saw the highlights and those doing the highlights seemed to think that all penalty decisions were pretty good ones.

I don't have too many problems with any of the calls, on the hand ball, the defender had his back to the play but his arm was high and the ball hit the back of his elbow, Crouch was holding as much as the defender and that call could have gone either way.

What bothers me is that it interrupts the flow of the game to have these consultations. Who has the final say, because obvious neither the referee or linesman thought they were penalties and they both had good views on both the calls. I really thought the 5th official was there to act as a goal judge and give his opinion on whether the ball went over the line, I didn't think he had the power to make penalty calls. I think it is a bit risky to have more than the referee being able to make major decisions. What happens if they disagree?
