Maybe true about our owner, but my boy is right, its far too much for Modric.

Seems strange to say it, but I am hoping the money is spent elsewhere.

Wasnt 40 million.

Top offer was 30 million plus a choice of one from 3. Malouda Alex or Kalu.

Spurs said only Drogba and 30 million or you can forget it (Till Jan?).

All three Chelsea players put forward by the club said they did not want to sign for Spurs.

I am glad we never signed him for that much. Its way over the top dont you think?

Redknapp did say Levy told him there was a £40M bid, I saw the interview on Sky. Could have been cash plus players.

No, He never said Levy, he said he heard and didnt know if it was true or not (Interview while in the car).

Of course as Dad says, that dont matter to Sky, they report it as true.

I thought I heard him say the chairman told him there was a £40 M bid? Didn't hear the bit about whether it was true or not. But to be honest there's no guarantee that Redknapp wasn't just talking BS. £40M does seem ridiculously high.

Newspapers are now reporting the truth. 30 million plus Alex.

Zingo is right about players not wanting to sign for Spurs as make weights.

The one thing that strikes me over the whole Modric affair.

Meireles did more in one day, handing in transfer request, than Modric could do in 2 months.

Now I dont know why he never handed in a transfer request, but if you are prepared to tell the media and the club you want to sign for Chelsea, why not go the whole hog n hand in the transfer request? At least that would give the club chairman a chance to get out of the hole he got himself in.

It will be extremely interesting how Modric performs once he returns.

Dalglish and Liverpool decided that they didn't want to keep a player who wanted to leave same with Arteta at Everton. I was under the impression that Modric did had in a transfer request, but there might not have been anything official on his part. I am not sure it would have made any difference. Levy had drawn his line in the sand and wasn't going to let him go no matter what.

I am also interested in how he plays and what happens if he is off his best form and new bids come in for him in the January window.
