PostSubject: Schuster replaced by Juande Ramos   Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:49 pm

Bernd Schuster has been sacked as manager of Real Madrid and been replaced by former Sevilla and Spurs coach Juande Ramos.
Real lost their weekend match 4-3 at the Bernabau to Ramos' former team Sevilla, and find themselves 9 points away from leaders Barçelona.
The Real board had already given Schuter several vote of confidences this season, but it seems this recent defeat hammered the final nail in the German's coffin.
In yesterdays post match interview Schuster openly admitted that Real had no chance of winning their next game, which as it happens is Barçelona at the Camp Nou.

That's been coming for a long time. The life expectancy for managers at Real Madrid is not all that good. I remember after Ronaldo confirmed that he was staying at United for now, Schuster remarked that Ronaldo would be at Real for the beginning of the next season. The betting was that Ronaldo might but it was unlikely Schuster would.

For all their swagger Real are in pretty bad shape, most likely 12 points behind Barcelona after their next game and a likely tough game in the knockout stages of the Champions league coming up. Seems like they are counting on Huntelaar big time.

Ramos is a better manager than he shown at Spurs, that was just not the right place for him. He has shown with Seville that he knows what he is doing and should make a go at it with Real Madrid, providing the Board doesn't interfere too much. But that's a long shot with Calderon.

Schuster said after the weekend game Madrid were not capable of beating Barcelona.

Thats like signing your exit pass.

Ramos? What a joke - Nice pay off at Spurs then takes over one of the big two in Spain.

Interesting Madrid insisted it was till the end of the season only appointment.

Maybe watching events unfold at Anfield n the contract talks with Rafa.

I understand they are dragging their feet on the money.

Nothing changes there then Rolling Eyes

I'm afraid you understand wrong then - 2 meetings have taken place thus far and as of yet his salary has not even been discussed. Rafa has categorically told his representatives to forget about going into the discussions talking about money - it is a small issue for Rafa and something that will be sorted out at the end once everything else is in place.
